So I just got back from four days of camping in tent city at Sonshine Fest. It's so amazing! The bands, the moshing, feeling obligated to protecting small girls from the insane thrashers, the sunburn, living off of a box of crackers and peanut butter sandwiches, the night life, waking up in puddles of rain water, feeling free to sing at the top of your lungs while your sweat-drenched body is wrapped around people on either side of you, talking to the bands in their free time, meeting amazing people and old friends. Nihilio, Haste the Day, Children 18:3, War of Ages, Maylene & The Sons of Disaster, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red- All amazing bands. The most entertaining thing I saw however was at the end of the show for The Chariot. One of the guitarists climbed up on the stack of amps on stage. They were really wobbly and fell over- he fell behind it somewhere. Another guitarist grabbed the neck of his guitar and smashed it into the floor of the stage with chunks of the guitar flying everywhere until it was unrecognizable. The lead singer grabbed one of the symbol stands from the drums and looked as though he was going to throw it into the crowd but then with a second thought just collapsed to the ground.
